Harmony

Harmony seems to be such a simple thing to create. But it is actually a rare commodity in our world. Unaware of unity, we struggle with each other and compete for wealth, power and position.

Even our religions suffer from this phenomenon. The one is always better than the other, the teaching always more truthful than the other, and in the ensuing battle for dogmatic supremacy, we create disharmony. Cultural warfare is almost always linked to religious warfare – as religion plays a central role in our cultural expression.

In our personal environment, harmony seems out reach for most of us. Disharmony is created through our continual reactionary dysfunction. Do we ever think why we act in a certain way, or why we re-enact certain patterns of behavior? These incidents are almost always of a negative nature, we always try to be better than others in order to prove to ourselves that we are superior to others, to firmly root our little place in the world. This is the dysfunctional ego at work.

Harmony is a trademark of awakened consciousness. Living in harmony with others, requires that we are aware of feelings, that we are aware of emotional behavior patterns, and the personal environment. Much like a mother that comforts a distressed child, in order to heal a momentary pain or emotional experience, we need to comfort our ego’s into accepting that life is not all about conflict. To achieve this we need to be fully in the Now. Simply put, the Now means that we are conscious of our behavior towards others, the self, and our surroundings.

The difficulty is that we are not always awake, or fully conscious. Even the most enlightened soul has moments of relapse, as we cannot always be attuned to the highest harmonic of our being. When we are attuned, we experience spiritual freedom. And spiritual freedom creates harmony.

Love thy neighbor as thy love thyself. Quite an expression. But what does it mean? Firstly, we need to realize that our neighbors are ourselves. Once we realize that we need to do unto others as we would like them to do unto us, then we have reached a milestone in our lives. Emotional Intelligence has just seen the light of day in our minds. For we are indeed doing unto ourselves.

Spiritual Intelligence requires that we are cognizant of our actions, feelings, judgmental attitudes and general emotional behavior patterns. This is true in the essence of things, but also on the most mundane of levels. Practice discretion, pause before you speak or act. Am I acting in my highest spiritual integrity? Am I acting in the interests of all those that fills my life with the blessings of Love, sense of Purpose and creates my emotional abundance?

We are busy creating a world. That we must accept. And we have the choice to create either harmony or disharmony in this world. Is truly up to us. Every action, no matter how small, reverberates through the ethers and builds and strengthens according to the energy we afford it. It either moves to harmony and love, or contributes to destruction and dis-unity.

We can take our pick.

Much Love
